Lofting And Cutting

Keel

24-JUNE-2016 - I have all the lumber I need. Still waiting for the glue from amazon. However we don't need it to start lofting the keel and cutting stringers. I bought plans for Stephenson's weedender boat back when I go into this. Aside from the wheel I never bult the boat. However the video that came with the kit shows how the boat is constructed. Myself and Jeanette sat down and watched the video as far as cutting stringers and part of the kell construction. I want Jeanette to understand what we will be doing before we start.

25-June-2016 - We cut out the stringers and lofted and cut out the first layer for the keel. Jeanette did most of the lofting and I did the cutting. Jeanette says this is a lot of fun. I have to agree.

Lofting Keel First Board

27-June-2016 Yesterday the weather was perfect but Jeanette wanted a pajamma day instead of working on the boat. I agreed. Unfortunately today it kept threatening to rain. dispite the problems we still mangaged to fiinish cutting out the parts for the keel. We have to wait for the weather to be more predictable before we attempt gluing the keel or putting out the plywood to loft the bottum panels.

Unassembled Keel

Bottum

28-JUNE-2016 - Today Jeanette and myself lofted and cut out the bottum panels of the boat. Things are going quite well. Although we messed up in cutting the front bottum panel. The plans were very vague in the written discription of how the two panels were to be arranged before cutting the front bottum piece. Because we did not cut it out properly we have to buy another 3/8 sheet of plywood to do the top piece. It should have been cut from the leftovers from the bottum deck. $50.00 wasted. Oh well.
